Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, in affiliation with our university hospital, the University of Vermont Medical Center, seeks a pathologist with expertise in Cytopathology for a full-time faculty position on the Clinical Scholar Pathway (non-tenure) at an Assistant/Associate/Professor rank. The applicant must be Board eligible/certified in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology. Strong diagnostic skills with fellowship training and experience in Cytopathology, including FNA experience, is preferred and an interest in development of a subspecialty area of Surgical Pathology is desirable. Strong interest and evidence of experience in medical student, resident and fellow education is essential. The applicant should have evidence of academic productivity and will be expected to pursue scholarly activities and/or clinical, translational or collaborative research. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides academic effort for an initial 3 years allowing our new faculty to develop scholarly and educational activities aligned with their interests. Cytopathology volumes at the University of Vermont Medical Center are 28,000 gyn accessions and 6,300 non-gyn accessions, of which 2100 are FNA samples with an active FNA service. Approximately 43,000 surgical pathology specimens are accessioned per year. The department has an ACGME-accredited AP/CP Residency Program, Cytopathology Fellowship and a Pathology Student Fellowship Program.
