The purpose of this job is to document and produce informational, educational, promotional, and multimedia projects for the city of Columbia.
Essential Functions:
- Writes, produces, shoots, and edits video stories to promote city programs, activities, and events.
- Develop relationships with city employees and individuals within the community to develop story ideas and update the production calendar.
- Utilizes video production skills including directing, producing, script writing, editing, recording, ormulti-cameralivestreamingpublic meetings.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience(An equivalent combination of education, training & experience will be considered):
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Film Production, Journalism, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years experience in video editing or related field.
Licenses or Certifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- troubleshooting equipment.
Skill in:
- Conducting non-linear editing.
- Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Filming, lighting, and scene composition.
- Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
- Applying active listening and asking questions for understanding.
Ability to:
- Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Create and present reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Communicate complex ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
- Provide high levels of effective customer service.
- Regularly use a computer, software, phone, and related office equipment.
