Chaplain Resident-Clinical Pastoral Education Residency Program
Job Summary
Provides interfaith spiritual, emotional and psycho-social support to inpatients, outpatients families and staff. Participates as a full member of the interdisciplinary health care team and the trauma team. This is a one year/4 CPE unit program of adult learning and clinical practice.
Job Duties
- Provides daily, direct spiritual care services and on rotating assigned units.
- Prioritizes Spiritual Care in order of urgency, attempting to see every patient at least once during their hospital stay.
- Consults with staff as needed to adequately respond to patient needs.
- Attends IDT Meetings as able on their assigned floors.
- Serves as the Primary Chaplain during 24-hour, on duty shifts.
- Completes electronic charting and written notes in log book.
- Provides 24-hour coverage in the hospital.
- Serves on the trauma team, providing support to families as well as being a liaison with the medical staff.
- Responds to all requests for patient or staff support.
- Responds to all Traumas, Alerts and RRTs.
- Triages emergency calls for the Catholic priest and other faith representatives.
- Participates in worship opportunities and quarterly Services of Remembrance.
- Chaplains are responsible for adhering to Geisinger policies and standards concerning patient care.
