Job Summary/Basic Function:
The School of Education and Professional Studies invites applications for a full-time (10 month) Director of the Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center, reporting directly to the Dean. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative oversight for the Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center, Thomas E. O’Shaughnessy Assistive Technology Center, and the Math and Science Center; collaborate with faculty in providing the oversight and supervision of the Center’s after-school programs for students in grades K to 8; lead the Center’s administrative assessment efforts, including the collection of assessment data and compilation of annual reports; administer the Center’s budget; and support the Center’s fundraising efforts and donor relations, in collaboration with the Dean and the Office of College Advancement. This is an on-campus position; the incumbent may also be required to work in the evenings and/or weekends, specifically in support of the Center’s community-based programming.
Successful applicants will have an earned master’s degree from an accredited institution, experience working in PK-12 settings, experience working with and/or teaching post-secondary students and demonstrated competence in educational technologies. Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job:
A successful candidate will:
1. Provide administrative oversight for the Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center, Thomas E. O’Shaughnessy Assistive Technology Center, and the Math and Science Center;
2. Supervise the Center’s faculty adjuncts and co-teach the Early Childhood Literacy lab (BEARS Literacy Club);
3. Supervise the Center’s student workers and graduate assistant(s);
4. Provide the oversight and supervision of, and participate in, the Center’s after-school programs (e.g., K-2 BEARS Literacy Club, Grade 3-4 Crazy-8 Math Club, Grade 5-8 The Write Spot);
5. Collaborate with area schools on various community outreach opportunities;
6. Lead the Center’s administrative assessment efforts, including the collection of assessment data and compilation of annual reports;
7. Administer the Center’s budget, including purchasing, billing, payments, and the maintenance of records;
8. Host the Center’s book fairs, held once each semester;
9. Support the Center’s fundraising efforts and donor relations, in collaboration with the Dean and the Office of College Advancement;
10. Seek out additional opportunities for external funding, including grants, in support of the Center’s various programming;
11. Train the Center’s employees on using and maintaining the “Tiny Cat" Library System;
12. Collaborate to develop, facilitate, and/or implement various programs and professional development with college Faculty and staff;
13. Attend academic program, department, school, and college meetings in keeping with roles and responsibilities;
14. Participate in faculty governance, including attendance at Faculty Senate meetings; and
15. Participate in school-wide, departmental, and program related student retention and recruitment activities.
Required Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have:
1. An earned master’s degree from an accredited institution
2. Experience working in PK-12 settings
3. Experience working with and/or teaching post-secondary students
4. Demonstrated competence in educational technologies (e.g., Office365, Brightspace, Zoom)

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have:

1. An advanced degree in Education or a closely related field
2. Experience in administration, including supervision of employees
3. Experience developing and/or implementing after-school or community-based educational programming
4. Experience with fundraising, donor relations, and/or successful grant writing
5. Supported school and/or campus accreditation efforts (preferably, CAEP and/or Middle States)
