Toddler Teacher

Position Overview: Hand In Hand Child Care Center on the Concordia University campus, St. Paul, Minnesota, is looking to hire a full-time Co-Lead Teacher in the toddler program (ages 16 months to 33 months). Education degree, Early Childhood degree, or Child Development Associate preferred. Healthcare benefits and University education benefits are part of the employment package.

Essential Duties:
40 hours weekly
Maintains pre-kindergarten licensure or other credential requirements
Follows child care regulations as presented in Department of Human Services, Statute9503 (Rule 3)
Documents and reports suspected cases of child abuse to Child Protection
Completes required in-service training each year. Tracks and maintains personal training hours and training record forms.
Completes first-aid/CPR training every two(2) years
Directly supervises the toddler program
Supervises student workers in the toddler room
Supervises practicum/student teachers as assigned
Coordinate the schedules with staff in the room when a substitute is used
Sees that the daily custodial (diapers, toilet training, feeding) and educational needs of each child are met.
Plans and implements curriculum along with team teacher
Meets with co-teacher to discuss lesson plans, etc., on a weekly basis
Maintains learning areas as specified in Rule 3 for: Large muscle
Block area
Water and/or sand area
Manipulatives
Reading
Art and music area
Dramatic play area
Plans and posts lesson plans
Maintains bulletin boards in the toddler room
Maintains a clean and organized classroom and shared spaces and works cooperatively with other classroom staff to clean and organize shared materials
Works with a consultant for the development or improvement of the center
Keeps daily reporting updated for each child
Supervises the toddler food record
Maintains daily attendance records
Communicates with parents informally through verbal communication, sign-in book, logbook, telephone, and/or email
Informs parents when children are ill or injured
Completes accident reports when necessary
Maintains individual child's assessment and portfolio documentation
Participates in at least two (2) parent conferences annually
Works in collaboration with other center staff
Participates in staff curriculum planning when appropriate
Participates in weekly staff meetings
Conducts daily safety checks of his/her room and playground
Conducts daily maintenance of kitchen area (refrigerator, laundry, etc.)
Informs the director of any safety concerns in the center
Informs director of supply needs
Additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Child's Development Associate Degree: Preferred
Pre-kindergarten teaching license: Preferred
Synodical college preparation or colloquy candidacy: Preferred
