JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Caballero-Flores lab is a new
research group at UW-Madison that officially started in March 2024. We
are seeking a talented, motivated, and committed individual interested
in being part of this exciting stage. In this position, you will have
the chance to make a big impact in our group through setting up a new
lab and research program at the University, while creating a diverse,
inclusive, and collaborative environment for all lab members. Research
in the Caballero-Flores lab focuses on studying the mechanisms by which
beneficial bacteria and local immune responses limit the access or
expansion of external pathogens in the gut, and in turn, how these
pathogens evade natural barriers to successfully colonize the host. For
this purpose, we primarily use mouse models of disease resembling human
infection, as well as methods from microbiology, immunology,
biochemistry, and high-throughput technologies. The primary
responsibilities of the Research Specialist is to perform independent
research, perform lab manager duties with respect to maintaining stock
of supplies, quoting and ordering material and equipment, oversee the
lab\'s mouse colonies, and oversee the work of undergraduate student
hourlies. Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more
research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and
specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives
under moderate supervision. 40% Conducts research experiments according
to established research protocols with moderate impact to the
project(s). Collects data and monitors test results 20% Operates,
cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research
area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders 10%

presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences 10%
Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of
