The Production Training Specialist, with supervision and guidance, will be responsible for ensuring development and completion of on-going employee training for roles within production. This role is crucial in ensuring that employees are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their tasks efficiently and in compliance with quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resolve current and future employee training needs, assess, and improve training materials, and directly lead training sessions with employees on site.
Collaborate with Engineering, Human Resources, Quality and Management to identify training needs, and collaborate on individual employee training plans.
Establish processes and tools to maintain current employee training records, skills matrices, and training plans, with a focus on electronic/digital management.
Support new hire on boarding and orientation.
Provide trainee evaluations throughout the training program based on operator, trainer, and staff evaluations.
Support cross training targets/initiatives working closely with supervisors and team leads to coordinate training to support production.
Train production staff on new equipment, safety protocols and compliance requirements to maintain a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
Perform inventory transactions within the manufacturing systems, including cycle counting.
Coordinate with various departments, such as procurement and logistics, to ensure timely availability of raw material.
Ensure that all necessary raw materials, components, and consumables are available when they're needed.
Perform necessary material handling functions (including but not limited to ordering material, kanban maintenance, putting away material).
Collaborate with VMI personnel to ensure consumable item levels are maintained consistently.
Support continuous improvement activities to implement standard methodologies and training.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
4+ years' experience in a production/manufacturing environment in a production lead, process technician, training and development role or similar.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with external and internal personnel at all levels of the organization.
Highly effective interpersonal skills and decision-making abilities.
Effective and professional communication and organization skills.
Ability to exercise influence without authority.
Be well organized and capable of leading numerous challenging priorities.
Ability to be proactive, follow up and follow through around regular activities along with future projects.
Be able to use good judgement and build rapport with cross functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in related field.
2 years' experience as a production supervisor or similar production leadership role.
Ability to think strategically, envision future states and inspire change.
