Job Description

Purpose of Job
Responsible for the successful management of an independently-owned distributorship, to meet or exceed all operational and financial goals including gross profit generating and lead acquisition strategies.

Job Components
Financial:
  • Accountable for operation P&L and budget performance.
  • Review, monitor and analyze weekly scorecard and monthly distributor metrics to identify problem areas. Design and implement action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Manage distributorship accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Develop and implement action plans for accounts with unacceptable AR balances.
  • Manage receipts and deposits processing and verification.
  • Manage inventory to coincide with selling activity to ensure proper levels.
  • Plan for and identify root causes of inventory deviation through cause and effect analysis and design. Implement action plans to address deficiencies.

Customer Focus:

  • Review, monitor and look at analytics to identify markets that may be declining. Design and implement action plans to address decline.
  • Understand key account hierarchy, visit and maintain relationships with key decision makers at each account.
  • Manage dealer erosion.
  • Develop product and service competition expertise in respective market.
  • Key contact for complaints received by operation.
  • Investigate all complaints and respond to complaining customer within reasonable timeframe.
  • Work with sales team to acquire new business within region.
  • Formulate, develop, implement and measure market strategies penetration in respective market.
  • Maintain dealer files to assure all documentation is in file.

Human Capital:
  • Communicate company initiatives, and Distributor goals to operation staff to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • Establish set weekly meetings with operation staff.
  • Provide annual performance reviews for all operation staff.
  • Hire and promote individuals based on the proven behaviors that align with Distributorship values
  • Manage labor to meet utilization objectives for operation.
  • Provide performance management utilizing progressive discipline process.
  • Provide recognition and reward for team members demonstrating outstanding performance.
  • Provide consistent training and coaching to develop team members’ knowledge, abilities and skills.

Process:

  • Ensure data integrity and timely submittals into reporting systems.
  • Upload/download handhelds daily
  • Process handheld data in a timely manner to ensure batches are completed daily.
  • Upload/download counter sales and balance daily.
  • Backup computers on a nightly basis.
  • Maintain computer, network and phone systems. Work with IT support as needed.
  • Answer telephones and perform front counter sales as needed
  • Receive all inventory orders in computer. Reclassify/Relabel as necessary.
  • Enter new dealers and process closed dealers to keep dealer base current.
  • Run end of month efficiently and accurately.
  • Prepare end of month documents and email reports after completed.
  • Ensure compliance with all Distributor standard operating procedures, including OSHA and DOT compliance.
  • Focus on development of best practices that provide greater productivity and efficiencies and drive distributorship revenue goals.
  • Manage routing procedures to ensure maximum utilization of equipment and manpower.
  • Provide on-going feedback for continuous process improvement.
  • Maintain needed driver qualifications in order to legally operate all vehicles in distributorship.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Minimum of 5 years proven managerial experience is required.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is a plus.
  • Computer skills including Word and Excel preferred.
  • Knowledge of battery or automotive systems a plus.

  • Understand the battery business. Scope Data Contacts internal – (Operation Directors, NAC, HO staff) and external (customers). This position operates with a high degree of relational interaction with minimal supervision. Must build and maintain relationships across the enterprise associated with source data of all types.

Work Environment

  • Ability to sustain posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.
  • Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move 50+ lbs.
  • May be exposed to battery warehouse conditions such as exposure to moving equipment mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Prolonged use of personal computer & telephone.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Full Time - First Shift - 7am-5pm - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
