Job Description
Facilities Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director for Facilities and assists with managing and supervising daily operations of recreation facilities. Responsible for supervising recreation facilities weekends and evenings. Primary responsibility of supervising 20 weight room supervisors and 75 weight room staff. Assists with general supervision of student facility staff, facility inspections, locker rentals, daily lockers, special events and facility set-ups for activities. Coordinates Emergency Action Plans and building maintenance activities while on duty.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, human development or other relevant field required.
  • Experience training and supervising student staff utilizing best practices for customer service.
  • Experience supervising recreation facilities.
  • Variable work schedule. Evening and weekend work required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient computer skills, ability to use sound management principles and work effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse constituencies.
Skills and Knowledge
  • First Aid Instructor certification or ability to acquire within first year of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise Recreation facilities weekends and evenings.
  • Working as part of the Facilities work group assist with supervising daily operations of Barnes Center at The Arch recreation areas and satellite recreation facilities including Ernie Davis Fitness Center, Women’s Building, Women’s Building Fields & Courts.
  • Oversee student staff on duty, Coordinate Emergency Action Plans and building maintenance activities while on duty.
  • Enforce policies and procedures relating to facility operations and use.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with facilities team and Facilities Services to address maintenance and custodial needs.
  • Assist with the training, development, supervision, evaluation, scheduling and payroll for student Facilities staff.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels for all operating hours and events.
  • Manage facility set-ups for daily activities and special events. Interact with event organizers to facilitate appropriate facility set-up and usage.
  • Assist with implementing risk management and customer service plans for Facilities area.
  • Assist with managing laundry operations, locker rental program and daily use lockers.
  • Ensure established closing procedures are followed.
  • Assist with operation of and training for recreation management software relating to memberships, lockers and program registrations.
  • Assist with collecting data relating to facility operations, participation and participant satisfaction and learning.
