TITLE: Kitchen Aide SUPERVISOR: Program Director Position Summary: To assist in preparing food orders for the seniors and to assure the smooth operation of the kitchen by performing the following duties. Accountable to comply with funder assessments in kitchen (nutrition & DOH) Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Abide by Department of Health (DOH), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department for the Aging (DFTA) regulations regarding proper kitchen hygiene and maintenance. - Ensure that quality and quantity of food meet standards for meal patterns established by designated regulatory agencies (i.e. USDA, CACFP, etc.) - Receive and inspect incoming product for quality and quantity, and ensure prompt and proper storage - Assist in preparing meals accurately according to written recipes - Recommend changes in recipe/cooking method to improve quality of food - Follow and coordinate daily activities of staff engaged in food preparation, meal service and cleanup - Assist in monthly inventory control - Assist and participate in the requisition, inspection, preparation, cooking and portioning of food in accordance with quality standards. (DFTA & DOH) Ensure safe handling and proper temperature control of prepared foods - Ensure security of refrigerators, freezers, storerooms, and office before leaving for the day - Check cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, and equipment, dining area, and adherence to sanitation standards - Consult with Cook & Assistant Cook as to schedule, menu and any other problems - Attend relevant R.A.I.N. and Outside Trainings - Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent - 1-2 years' experience - Valid Food Protections Certificate preferred - Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment - Proficiency in the safe operation of all kitchen equipment and Department of Health regulations.
