Position Summary:

Installs, maintains, repairs, modifies and tests electric power and lighting distribution circuits, apparatus, equipment, appliances, control equipment and wiring used in heating and refrigeration, lighting, power, intercommunications, air conditioning and electrical systems of homes, factories, and other buildings.  Cuts, bends, threads metallic and non-metallic conduit systems for electrical installation or repair.  Installs cable, flexible conduit, and raceway systems for electrical installations or repair.  Installs and maintains electrical circuits and equipment in accordance with NFPA 70 National Electrical Code.  Performs required testing in accordance with NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities, and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code.  Performs all other related duties.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.      Identifies material for electrical installation, maintenance and repair, of electrical circuits, controls and equipment.

2.      Performs ground integrity and continuity testing on surgical tables and patient beds.

3.      Test receptacles in patient rooms, wards, and other areas, for correct tension, ground integrity, ground path, correct polarity and proper wiring.

4.      Installs conduit for wiring, communication, and data cables in renovation areas, room additions or modifications.

5.      Plans electrical installations by studying as-built's and blueprints, and by applying knowledge of and in accordance with, codes and standards.

6.      Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, and other parts of electrical driven equipment.

7.      Tests and maintains LIM’s Line Isolation Monitors, for proper operation and safety.

8.      Repairs and replaces faulty wiring and lighting fixtures.

9.      Repairs by replacement, lamps of lighting fixtures, switches, and receptacles that are found to be broken or have failed safety checks.

10.  Repairs other miscellaneous electrical equipment as required.

11.  Assists other craftsmen in the repair of air conditioning, heating, or other electrically operated equipment.

12.  Tests and maintains electrical generating systems, back up battery systems, and maintains a record or log of each.

13.  Prepare order form for tools and supplies necessary for maintenance and repairs of electrical systems or related equipment.

14.  Knowledgeable of building management systems known as “METASYS”, performs standard duties as systems operator and can detect trouble in these systems with reasonable success at least  70% of the time.

15.  Can diagnose and correct problems in Computerized Tube Delivery System (Translogic Tube  System), requiring immediate responses to operational failures of varying nature with success rate  of over 75%.

16.  Other duties may include (but are not limited to) involve repair to mechanical equipment, plumbing, painting, and various types of structural repair.

17.  Performs other related job duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

·         High School Diploma or GED

·         Three years of Prior work experience

·         Journeyman’s Electrician’s License

·         Must possess valid Michigan Driver’s License and be insurable under the hospital insurance program

 

Preferred:

·         Five years of prior work experience
