Mechanic I
Mechanic I is the entry point to the Malloy Repair Shop which is a full-service repair center for electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, blowers, and other industrial equipment. Mechanic I’s serve a support role within the shop to tend and assist senior mechanics. Mechanic I’s can work accurately and with a high attention to detail while being supervised. After obtaining sufficient working knowledge and experience, Mechanic I’s can be promoted to Mechanic II.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Test, disassemble, clean, repair, scrape, paint, and reassemble electric motors and other industrial equipment. Noting and replacing parts as needed.
- Understands shop flow and the ability to track time and materials accurately.
- Inspect various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions.
- Operate specialized testing equipment as needed.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Perform other functions as necessary for Mechanic II and III.
- Ability to identify mechanical parts.
- Understands Megger and Baker Testing of Motors.
- Janitor clean up after shop hours.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Vocational/Tech School Preferred (not required).
- Lifelong learner.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic math skills.
- Safety minded.
- Able to work well in a team environment.
