Elevate your career working as an Enforcement Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Health in a position which exists to coordinate the enforcement activities in the Office of Medical Cannabis. This position is responsible for enforcement of state statutes and rules for businesses cultivating, manufacturing, selling, and transporting cannabis products as well as organizations hosting events. These regulated establishments are inspected or investigated to ensure materials grown and manufactured into products for consumption are safe are compliant with regulations.

Working as an Enforcement Coordinator, you will:

  • Provide technical, consultative, and administrative support to staff in the initiation of complaint investigations, enforcement actions, and coordinates all aspects of escalated enforcement activities.

  • Review enforcement and variance processes.

  • Provide assistance with written rules.

  • Participate in committees.

This is a hybrid telework position and is based on the business needs and manager discretion. Commuting to the St. Paul office and other MDH office locations across the state will be required. Reimbursement for authorized business travel expenses is provided according to bargaining unit guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

Three (3) years of experience conducting inspections or investigations. This experience must include the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of compliance and enforcement.

  • Ability to write clear and concise reports, enforcement documents, and document data.

Minimum Qualifications for be assessed during the interview process:

  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders, including cannabis business owners and law enforcement officers.

  • Knowledge of administrative law and process including methods of lawful investigation, data privacy, personal and agency liability, and use of injunctions, administrative penalty orders, cease and desist orders, embargo, registration, and license revocation procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of the state cannabis regulations.

  • General knowledge of the cannabis manufacturing, testing, and labeling industry practices.
