Position Summary
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York (SUNY) seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Teaching. The position is a 10-month appointment and not tenure-track. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share the MAE vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.

The primary purpose of this position is to improve the educational experience for undergraduate students enrolled in senior design (capstone) and laboratory courses in the Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Aerospace Engineering (AE) programs. These courses serve as important elements of the accreditation process and ABET objectives.

A successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:
  • Serve as Instructor for the required undergraduate courses of Design Process and Methods (MAE 451) and Design Project (MAE 494).
  • Redevelop the aerospace engineering laboratory to create innovative and educational experiences.
  • Participate in the MAE Undergraduate Studies Committee to support the accreditation process for ABET, and support department initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Serve as a Faculty Advisor for a cohort of MAE undergraduate students.

Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or closely related field, or confirmation that all academic requirements for the degree have been met.
