Annual Salary: $100,000 - $120,000
Position
The Sr. Engineer leads and develops design solutions for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) programs or multiple small programs. This role requires at least 7+ years of UAV Design and Manufacturing experience. The candidate shall have demonstrated experience developing UAV systems and a strong knowledge of developing structural components, control surfaces, and other UAV systems to maximize performance and manufacturing producibility. The candidate shall have a strong understanding and ability to design components for optimal composite manufacturing. The candidate shall have a deep and demonstrated knowledge of various composite manufacturing processes and techniques.
Sr. Engineer will:
Develop, manage, and deliver design programs focused on solutions for various complex problems with ingenuity and innovation. Resolving technical issues impacting cost, schedule, and performance.
Perform the following engineering tasks: Managing the Product Development Phase
Engineering layouts and system integration
Specification Development
Liaison engineering support
Managing and tracking program budget and drawing release schedule
Creating and managing statement of work
Leading design program team and interdisciplinary activities (Stress, Flam, Certification, etc.)
On-board train and mentor new personnel
Contribution to DFM teams to simplify the manufacturing process
Responsible for integrating manufacturing inputs to make product improvements
Perform the following internal cross-functional program activities:Report overall engineering schedule status
Coordinate with cross-function team design requirements
Facilitate design product build and cost discussions with manufacturing and procurement
Provide leadership with the program's status, risks, and opportunities
Perform the following customer interaction task: Support and lead ITCM, PDR, and CDR activities
Support customer meetings
Providing customer support
Management of customer expectations and technical work scope
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced communication skills with the ability to connect and partner effectively with cross-functional teams
Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes and specifications, structural requirements, and FAA regulations
Interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within diverse teams. Analytical problem-solving with attention to detail
Deep design knowledge of commonly used design guidelines, procedures, and concepts
Detailed understanding of GD&T
Experience in Work Instruction Creation
Proficient in verbal and written communication skills; able to prepare technical documents for customers
Composite part fabrication experience
Implementation of continuous improvements by the use of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methods
Reviewing drawings, models, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
Establishment of sequences of operations to fabricate and assemble composite products that promote efficient utilization of equipment and labor
Implementing and improving new manufacturing processes
Experience with composite processes and specifications of thermoset and/or thermoplastic parts and structures
Experience in establishing qualification plans to qualify processes and equipment to meet customer specifications
Capable of designing or defining the requirements for the development of equipment, robotics, Lay-up molds, Vacuum Holding Fixtures, Shop Aids, Positioning fixtures, and Go-No-Go inspection tools required for the manufacturing of new products
Capable of performing safety, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), Process Capability and Total Product Maintenance (TPM) for new and existing equipment
Understanding basic industrial engineering practices, such as,time studies, statistical analysis, ergonomic impacts, and value engineering principals
Ability to lead and mentor others
Responsible for leading multidiscipline teams in projects of significant impact to the company's objective
Ability to perform with little to no supervision
Education:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an AABET-accredited institution is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Minimum of 8-12 years' experience in an engineering classification. Aero, Mechanical engineering experience preferred.

Pay
SEKISUI Aerospace is required by Washington law to include the salary range for this role when hiring a Washington resident. Pay ranges may be higher or lower for non-resident WA employees, based on the market data for their region, allowing us to pay employees competitively in different geographic markets.
