ABOUT THIS POSITION
We are recruiting for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our rapidly growing Product Development team located in the Minneapolis, MN location. As an integral part of our development team, you will work closely with our engineers to develop software for our next generation Inspire products. You will be providing functional technical input for therapy and product system design as well as support continuation engineering as required.
OPPORTUNITIES YOU WILL HAVE IN THIS ROLE
Build and deploy embedded software of the highest quality using C++, C#, Python, and/or other supporting languages
Provide software leadership for new products as well as changes to existing products with a focus on embedded medical device software
Lead and mentor embedded software engineers
Define and implement software engineering standards and processes
Specify, design, implement, verify, validate, debug and support embedded software, software tools and utilities
Engage in architecture, design and code reviews to ensure designs meet or exceed implementation, testing, scalability, and maintainability best practice guidelines
Lead product risk management activities in compliance with ISO 14971
Ensure all quality system, regulatory, legal, and business requirements are met in the course of product development and market delivery
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO OUR GREAT TEAM
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Software, Computer Science, or related discipline and/or equivalent experience
10+ years of software development experience, including demonstrated experience with embedded software from a regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, health care, aerospace, etc)
Experience developing embedded software in C/C++
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders and senior leadership
Preferred:
Advanced level degree in Engineering, Software, Computer Science, or related discipline
Class III medical device experience
Previous experience developing embedded software architectures
Additional development experience utilizing .NET, C#, and/or Python
Knowledge of state-of-the-art security architectures and implementations
Experience with industry standards for medical devices such as ISO 14971, ISO 14708, EN 45502, IEC 60601, IEC 62304, IEC 62366 etc.
Understanding of 21 CFR 820 requirements as well as ISO 13485 requirements for design, development, and manufacturing
