Job Description

 
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The WorkSmart Career Planner is responsible for
WorkSmart Network contract performance goals as relates to the Workforce
Development Board of South-Central Wisconsin (WDBSCW) directives and
Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and Workforce Innovation and
Opportunity Act (WIOA) compliance. The Career Planner provides
individual career assessments, assistance with the development of
employment plans, development of Work Experiences and On-the-Job
trainings and internship opportunities for program customers.
Responsible for providing support to customers in determining their
short and long-term career goals and assisting in establishing a plan
that equally reflects the customer\'s personal and professional goals.
The Career Planner works as part of a network team, as well as part of a
regional sub-team to ensure consistent messaging and service delivery
across the region. Performs all duties in conformance with federal,
state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines governing
equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination in the workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Other duties may be assigned.
Achieve established contract goals as directed by WDBSCW, WIOA and DWD.
Develop formal weekly meeting agendas and minutes as required. Promote
and explain Workforce Development services to employers and job seekers
by participating in a variety of outreach activities, such as job fairs
and open houses, to increase customer awareness and utilization of the
local Workforce Development System. Assist with area Rapid Response
Sessions for businesses experiencing mass layoffs and/or closures.
Perform customer intake activities, such as determining program
eligibility, assisting in completing program paperwork and providing
information to facilitate participant access to employment and training
services. Work with other Workforce Development partners on training and
employment plans for individuals. Provide one-on-one career counseling
to individuals regarding career planning, training options, job search
strategies, resume building and interviewing skills. Conduct and
maintain contact with community organizations and businesses for the
purpose of outreach, recruitment, and positive public relations.
Maintain ongoing collaboration with Diversified Personnel Services (DPS)
to develop referral process to increase number of program enrollments.
Assist, as needed, in training new employees in areas such as agency
policy, department procedures, and agency or government regulations.
