About the Job



The primary responsibility of this position is to process and distribute donor ocular tissue to Lions Gift of Sight's (LGS) research clients. Travel may be required to attend domestic and international meetings for client recruitment and exhibition. This is a full-time, on-site, Monday-to-Friday position, and will require occasional holiday and evening hours.
The position also required availability by cell phone for research tissue requests and triaging.

60% Donor Tissue Processing and Distribution:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of ocular research tissue distribution.
Coordinate with donor coordinators and recovery staff for tissue procurements, medical records request, and serology sample submission.
Perform donor eye dissection, photography, imaging analysis, and documentation on dissected tissue.
Collaborate with the University of Minnesota's Vision Core Histology lab for specimen processing, shipping, and invoicing.
15% Documentation and Inventory:
Maintain accurate and complete records of tissue distribution in iTransplant.
Keep research clients' tissue preferences, processing protocols, and offering history using internal databases.
Complete weekly, monthly, and annually scheduled tissue inventory and billing summary for invoicing purposes.
15% Customer Service and networking
Intake tissue request applications, provide fee schedules, and onboarding of new research clients.
Provide timely response to researchers' requests, questions, complaints, and tissue-related issues.
Attend national and international conferences to network and recruit new clients.
5% Shipping and Receiving Research Tissues:
Oversee specimen shipment, receipt, and distribution with research clients and other eye banks.
Properly package, ship, receive and occasionally deliver samples to clients on campus following all related policies.
Be available to package tissue at off hours when necessary.
5% Other:
Assist the Research & Development Director in developing new services and allocation strategy to optimize tissue usage.
Order lab supplies and lab maintenance (recertification and calibration of equipment, surgical instrument cleaning and sterilization, etc.) needed for the research operation.
Expected Starting Salary Range: $24.84 to $28.92hr depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and related work experience to equal at least four years.
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to independently develop new operational directions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with exemplary record-keeping.
Demonstrated customer service skills in a high-volume or high-risk setting.
Ability to work occasional overtime.
Valid Minnesota driver's license.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience in organ, tissue or eye banking setting.
Public speech and Community outreach experience
