Under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor, lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and pipe supports related to a water utility (transmission and distribution system). Duties include:
? Locates and operates vales and/or gates.
? Installs water mains, hydrants, valves, gates, services, tapping sleeves, and related appurtenances.
? Installs and makes minor repairs to meters.
? Repairs services and water mains.
? Tests, services and repairs hydrants.
? Operates trucks, air compressors, pumps, jack hammers, plumber’s furnace, tapping machines of various sizes and other equipment incidental to work assignment.
? Operates hand tools related but not limited to the trade.
? Performs related work as required.
Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with one to three years related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL NOTE: Must possess a valid State of Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License. Must obtain within one year of hire a Grade1D Operator License and be subject to the continuing education requirements of the State of Rhode Island Department of Health.
A driver’s license check for the last two years will be performed. Negative findings may prevent applicants from being considered.
