Summary of Duties:
The Admissions Recruiter/Counselor is responsible for promoting the WSU System with a focus on both the WSU Pullman and Spokane campuses. This includes providing support to both campuses on prospect development, admissions guidance, and advising. The position is responsible for promoting undergraduate programs by developing, expanding, and strengthening key relationships with leaders in education and communities in assigned area. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining key relationships with Spokane undergraduate academic programs and key partners representing WSU Pullman. In addition, this position will also build and maintain strong working relationships with high school and college transfer counselors, teachers, and other administrators to increase prospective student inquiries, applications, confirmations, and enrollment. Additional duties include representing both campuses at university, campus and community events that include recruitment fairs, campus recruitment events, admitted student receptions, etc. This position will also represent both WSU Spokane and Pullman on various committees, attend internal training meetings, and participate in professional development opportunities both internally and externally. This position must be available to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
This position is located in Spokane.
Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Recruitment & New Student Enrollment: 50%
• Proactively schedule and participate in K-12 and college transfer outreach and recruitment activities, informational sessions, and events such as high school fairs and parent nights, awards banquets/presentations, college tours and fairs, community events, Fall/Spring Preview, Experience, national college fairs, and classroom and college visits in assigned territory: Eastern WA and Northern Idaho (Spokane, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Lincoln, Ferry, North Idaho, etc.)
• Provide excellent customer service and act as subject matter expert of Washington State University programs and admissions processes to prospective students to generate inquiries with a particular focus on Spokane and Pullman undergraduate programs.
• Follow-up on high school and college visits, student, parent, and counselor questions, and meetings with key community members regarding questions and requests.
• Advise high school and transfer students regarding core requirements, university resources, course work, academic policies, and academic programs (Spokane and Pullman undergraduate programs) to support enrollment growth.
• Initially evaluate transfer credits and connect students ready to transition to advisors and Transfer Center depending on campus.
• Provide Financial Aid and Scholarship assistance to prospective students and their families both individually, and via workshops or participation in financial aid events in region.
Student Outreach & Follow Up: 25%
• Follow up with prospective student inquiries and applicants obtained through recruitment initiatives to ensure thorough and prompt customer service via outbound phone calls, email, text, video and in-person visits
• Guide prospective students through the enrollment process and encourage them to register for admissions tours, and visitation events.
• Make referrals to other personnel and/or units as needed.
• Assist applicants with completion of Admissions/Financial Aid requirements.
Community Relations: 10%
• Develop and cultivate relationships with WSU constituencies such as TRIO, MESA, GEAR UP, Upward Bound, Running Start, Cooperative Extension and Learning Center faculty and staff, Multicultural Student Services, other WSU faculty, staff and students.
• Develop and cultivate relationships that complement initiatives for recruitment of high ability and under-represented students.
• Establish contacts in support of recruitment with college pre-health advisors, pre-health clubs/RSO's, high school and college transfer counselors, teachers, and principals.
• Follow up with high school/college counselors to ensure most up to date information on WSU application/programs/financial aid processes.
Administration: 10%
• Respond to general Spokane and Pullman admission inbox and chat to set follow up actions based on communication (general questions, tour requests, etc.)
• Participate in regular training such as on-campus trainings and weekly meetings for WSU Spokane and WSU Pullman, to maintain current information to share with students, etc.
• Utilizing the University's Enrollment CRM, follow up on questions, phone calls, travel logs, and emails. Schedule high school and community college visits and other events.
• Maintain updated documentation of communication correspondence for all prospective students and students within the University's Enrollment CRM
• Maintain recruiting files, prospective student tracking electronic files, and a recruitment database to include high school and community college staff and faculty, corporate and alumni contacts.
• Develop recruitment presentations to be used for high school, transfer students and other audiences as needed.
• Review application for admissions and make recommendations to admissions committee and referrals to Spokane advisors as necessary.
• Serve as a representative of Pullman and Spokane during on-campus visitation events as schedule allows.
• Serve as co-lead with Spokane Campus Visit staff in the coordination and facilitation of annual pre-health science outreach events hosted in collaboration with the Health Professions Student Center and WSU Spokane on both the WSU Pullman and WSU Spokane campuses.
Other: 5%
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Positions require a Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of experience directly related to student services. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements:
• Experience in preparing and presenting information to groups.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to travel.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience working in education or with high school and/or college students.
• Experience recruiting students at a four-year institution as well as recruiting from community colleges.
• Knowledge of student recruitment and college admissions. Knowledge of admissions procedures, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships and a broad base of knowledge regarding Washington State University.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, prospect software (CRM) and enterprise systems.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Experience in community organizations and/or volunteer experience with underserved populations.
• Broad working knowledge of policies and procedures in a complex academic institution.

Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - $5,397.56 | Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
