Senior Data Scientist - Consumer Industry (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - New York, NY) - Support the design and build of analytics solutions and products that inform client management on key decisions related to operational efficiency and revenue generation, specializing in the consumer industry. Specific duties include: gather, organize, and analyze complex data assets, perform modeling and algorithm design, identify business insights, and support the development of data science solutions through data mining, predictive analytics, and predictive modeling; frame new business challenges, build fact bases, scope a projects business needs, conceptualize metrics for analysis, design algorithms and innovative analytics workflows, and build and execute solid analytics work plans; analyze and interpret data to meet business and operational requirements; create scale by building tools and analytics-based applications; propose strategic recommendations in collaboration with case teams; research emerging data science frameworks and tools and evaluate their suitability for the business; support knowledge infrastructure projects and act as a thought leader on leading-edge business applications, tools and approaches; and develop and deliver thought leadership in scientific communities and papers as well as leading conferences on behalf of the company. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Science or a related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 18 months of experience as a Data Analyst, or related occupation, developing advanced data analytics solutions in an Enterprise environment. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement is not applicable to section) - must also possess the following: (i) applying core analytics methodologies including at least two of the following: predictive modeling; exploratory data analysis; descriptive statistics; variable reduction; and/or segmentation/clustering; (ii) designing complex analytics solutions and products using at least two of the following analytics techniques: time series analysis; linear, logistic, and multinomial regression; decision-tree based models; neural networks; Monte Carlo simulations; matrix factorization; deep learning approaches; and/or natural language processing; (iii) developing customized data queries and conducting extensive data extraction, synthesis, and evaluation on large datasets; (iv) designing processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy; (v) performing data visualization using at least one of the following tools: Tableau; GIS toolkits; JavaScript/D3; and/or R Shiny; (vi) supporting quality control and performance testing in Python and at least one of the following: R; Spark; and/or SQL; and (vii) building end-to-end demand forecast pipeline to maximize revenues. M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 45+ hours per week. Salary: $161,500 to $200,900. Partial telecommute available. Must report to and reside within commutable distance of the listed BCG office.
