Job Summary:
The Patient Access Receptionist is responsible for all patient registration duties including, clinic provider and walk-in clinic provider scheduling. This position is also responsible for central telephone duties and assisting patients/visitors with directions and escort/transportation.
Education, Training or Degree Required:(indicate preferred or required)

High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Certification from college or technical school (preferred)
License/Registration/Certification Required: (will be primary source verified by HR)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate communication between patients, family members, medical staff, administrative staff, or regulatory agencies.

Explain policies, procedures, or services to patients using medical or administrative knowledge.

Direct patient inquiries or complaints to leader and/or submit an AWARE ticket to ensure satisfactory resolution.

Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments.

Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.

Receive payment and provide receipts for services.

Collect, sort, distribute, or prepare mail and/or courier deliveries.

Verify patient insurances.

Accurately verifies all demographic and benefit information through previous registration, direct contact and/or language translation line.

Responsible for monitoring incoming faxes and distributing as appropriate.

Register patients in a timely, effective, and accurate manner.

Responsible for provider scheduling templates and scheduling patients by provider and applicable template and appropriate time slots.

Participates in the patient admission process and appropriate chart completion.

Maintains privacy and confidentiality regarding patients, staff, and all pertinent information (HIPAA).
