Job Description:
Purpose of Job
This position provides leadership for the medical staff functions related to credentialing, re-credentialing, committee agendas/minutes, assisting in the development of the Medical Staff bylaws, compliance with regulatory standards and medical student coordination.
Job Functions
Provides system-wide leadership, oversight and subject matter expertise of the Medical Staff Office and credentialing and re-credentialing process to fulfill payer, bylaws, regulatory and CMS requirements.
Acts as liaison between the Medical Staff and Ridgeview. Collaborates with the Chief of Staff to keep medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, credentials policies and procedures, fair hearing plan and organization functional manual up to date. Coordinates meeting schedules and agendas, record and type minutes for assigned committees/departments to provide effective meetings and documentation.
Participate on organizational and medical staff committees and serve as a professional resource for physicians, clinicians and leadership. May also collaborate with physicians and clinicians regarding Medical Staff Office programs and services. May represent Medical Staff Office and Ridgeview in community outreach including participation on committees and in doing presentations.
Serves as a liaison between prospective Medical Students and Ridgeview.
Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Creates a cohesive department committed to providing distributive, clinical and service quality to all customers.
Manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget for areas.
Reviews and monitors applicable policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards.
Maintains competencies and/or knowledge in accord with scope and responsibility of the position.
Proactively identifies and acts upon improvement projects and opportunities through observation, data analysis, engagement with partners, review and external impact factors and best practices, as well as ongoing communication with leadership and staff.
Coordinates the organization and payor credentialing and re-credentialing process in conjunction with Medical Staff Bylaws, DNV regulatory requirements, payor/insurance requests and policies and procedures for providers. Including processing files for appointment and reappointment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
Bachelor's Degree or post-secondary combined with equivalent experience
Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience with progressive managing responsibilities
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team
Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
Assures excellent service with a high degree of urgency to internal and external customers
Systemic thinking when contemplating and implementing change
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
