The Specialist Electronic Devices Registered Nurse (RN), is responsible for providing pacemaker/defibrillator and implantable loop recorder implementation preparation and follow-up care to aid in the treatment of diseases of the conduction system. You will become familiar with complex medical histories, innovative surgical procedures, pain modalities, and comprehensive nutritional support.Â

Responsibilities:
- Provides pacemaker/defibrillator implantation preparation including pre and post implant patient and family teaching, pre-discharge threshold testing, and follow up outpatient monitoring.
- Provides implantable loop recorder pre and post implant instructions to the patient and family and follow up outpatient monitoring.
- Receives and processes transtelephonic data from pacemaker and arrhythmia patients.
- Prepares and educates patients, families, and employees about procedures to be administered.
- Maintains and updates patient records.
- Maintains and updates device tracking records for statistical and alert/recall purposes.
- Maintains equipment in proper working condition and notifies Biomedical Engineering when new programmers are received. Notifies manufacturer representative when equipment is defective and removes equipment from service.
- Assists with departmental quality improvement review, projects and initiatives.
- Participates in community outreach events sponsored by AGMC/HVC.
- Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Maintains required CPR.
- Remains flexible to work in and cross train between other areas in the Heart and Vascular Center.
- Supports and participates in community wellness programs.
- Serves as preceptor for university students in nursing and/or other health sciences.

Education:
Certifications:
- Registered Nurse with license to practice in the State of Ohio. Maintains current CPR certification with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Complexity of Work:
- Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
Work Experience:
- Three to five years nursing experience in critical care or cardiology. Previous electrophysiology experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
- Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
- Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
