Responsibilities
This is a full time remote position within the United States.
Seeking a Senior Automation Solutions Architect (IT Tech Specialist II) for the recently formed enterprise automation office, known as the Automation Hub, to assist with the assessment, prioritization, and solution architectures for the automation requests. The Senior Automation Solutions Architect will define automation strategies, work closely with the Automation Hub, and other automation teams to identify automation opportunities, provide automation tools and technology recommendations and aid in the architecture and design of automated solutions.
The Senior Automation Solutions Architect will be responsible for leading the design and architecture of automated solutions for various business processes at Mayo Clinic. Leveraging their expertise in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies, low-code/no-code platforms, and scripting languages, they will assist in creating efficient, scalable, and reliable automated workflows. The Senior Automation Solutions Architect will collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams at Mayo Clinic to understand the requirements, challenges, and opportunities for automation.
Responsibilities include:
• Lead the technical analysis and documentation of business processes, current and future states, and identify automation opportunities.
• Collaborate with the IT Service Owner and automation experts to define the automation architecture, design, and standards for solutions using RPA technologies, low-code/no-code platforms, and scripting languages to create efficient, scalable, and reliable automation workflows.
• Secure the integration of automation solutions with other systems and applications using APIs, web services, databases, etc.
• Document automation architecture and processes using various methods
• Research and evaluate automation trends and technologies to be considered for use at Mayo Clinic.
• Provide recommendations for improvement and innovation at Mayo Clinic based on new automation technology functions, capabilities and overall viability.
Proactively assumes a team leadership role to direct and coordinate the work of other staff. Assigns tasks to staff taking into consideration workload balancing, skill sets, technical knowledge, and criticality of the tasks. Serves as a consultant or tutor in many specific technical areas of expertise to staff throughout the Department of Information Technology (IT). Serves on appropriate committees, acts as a resource to institutional committees, on an ad hoc basis, provides consultation in their area of expertise, and facilitates institutional work groups. Leads technical planning for areas supported by work unit as part of yearly division planning, and serves as an active member or facilitator of technical workgroups needed to advance project objectives. Leads committees to establish technical standards, promote integration of data, and/or coordination of projects across work units. Responsible and accountable for the on-time completion of tasks and projects as assigned, demonstrating a commitment to meet deadlines and priorities. Provides leadership in the technical design, system architecture, design, selection, and application of the of information systems resources to satisfy the requirements of the systems. Participates in major technical decisions, develops technical proposals that consider alternatives and business case, gains needed institutional approvals, and works effectively across departmental organizations gaining consensus of stakeholders. Is recognized beyond their division as a technical expert and is sought out for their in-depth knowledge. Also, is knowledgeable and applies a broad range of current technologies and recognizes how they fit into Mayo’s environment. May participate in industry committees or organizations.
Facilitates system technical reviews within the institution to ensure appropriate technical architecture and design, including understanding and applying concepts of enterprise architecture to ensure systems align, adhere and integrate within Mayo Information Technology enterprise environment. Works independently on all projects and assignments escalating to others based upon scope of authority, producing dependable results that consistently meet objectives. May be required to provide 24/7 on-call support. Interfaces routinely with colleagues who may be located at any of the Mayo Group practices to perform job responsibilities requiring virtual collaboration and partnership.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience including 5 years’ of demonstrated technical experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience OR Associates Degree and 10 years' experience including 5 years’ of demonstrated technical experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience. Often moves among different work areas and seeks to do so. Demonstrated project and deliverable consistency through repeatable and reliable performance. Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation to complete tasks and assignments on time. Proven evidence of project management skills. Demonstrated oral and written communication, organization, problem solving, and facilitation skills. Evidence of mastery level expertise in multiple technologies. Demonstrated ability in solving complex technical problems with multiple technologies. Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications. Masters degree in applicable field preferred.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
• At least 5 years of experience in automation design and architecture using RPA tools, low-code/no-code platforms, and scripting languages.
• Strong knowledge of business process automation, RPA technologies, low-code/no-code technologies, and scripting technologies.
• Experience required with UiPath, Microsoft PowerAutomate and other RPA technologies
• Experience with low-code/no-code platforms like Microsoft Power Platform, Google AppSheet and/or Airtable is highly desirable.
• Experience in designing and architecting automation solutions for the healthcare industry will be given strong consideration
• Experience in integrating automation solutions with various systems and applications using APIs, web services, databases, etc.
• Experience in documenting and maintaining the automation architecture, design, and code.
• Experience in training and mentoring the automation developers, engineers and testers on the best practices and standards of automation development.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Certification in RPA tools, low-code/no-code platforms, or scripting languages will be valuable in this role.
