Responsible for providing care to patients under the supervision and guidance of a psychiatry attending physician.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Psychiatry Resident at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. As requested, provide care for psychiatry department patients requiring evaluation and treatment in the inpatient, emergency department, and consultation settings.
2. Participates in effective communication with physician leadership, nursing leadership, clinical staff, patients, and families.
3. Accurately and timely completion of documentation of all patient encounters. Records will be attested to by the attending physician on-call. The billing provider will be the on-call attending physician.
4. Follows the Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Board Code of Conduct.
5. Participates in educational programs for professional staff.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Current BLS and ACLS certification
2. In good standing with the residency program.
3. Residents/fellows on a J-1 status are ineligible for moonlighting privileges.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. M.D. or D.O. degree from a recognized medical school.
2. PGY-3 or above, as approved by the Program Director.
3. PRITE score > 40% nationally on the most recent PRITE examination.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
