This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 27, 2024. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be January 20, 2024, with subsequent cut-off dates on the 1st of each month. Major Duties:
a) Provides a full range of assessment, providing formal diagnosis of mental disorders using DSM-5
criteria and determination of psychosocial functioning and needs of the Veteran and their family
members.
b) Provides psychosocial and mental health education to patients, family members, and significant others.
c) Provides comprehensive recovery and psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family,
and group psychotherapy, and including telemental health services, based on research and family systems
theory.
d) Provides consultation to professional staff within VA Medical Center and other stakeholder concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
e) Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment recovery plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders and program measurement based care instruments.
f) Functions independently at the VA Medical Center, and assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
g) Interviews Veterans and their family members/significant others to establish facts about the Veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial and psychiatric assessment. Assess high risk factors, acuity, and need for services.
h) On an inpatient/outpatient basis, finds a suitable means of treatment to help veterans and/or significant others cope with stressful situations. Treatment is aimed at helping veterans find practical solutions to the problems based on their whole health goals.
i) Is responsible for clinical practice in the area or program to which assigned. Is active in and accepts responsibility for the development and maintenance of professional standards of treatment.
j) Organizes community services on behalf of beneficiaries, developing and coordinating procedures for use of these services by related staff. Develops working relationships with other organizations having responsibilities for the same patient population. Develops and maintains a productive network of referral sources. Makes provisions for referral services from other agencies, community resources (i.e. transition or halfway houses, shelters, etc.) and other Governmental agencies to resolve problems. Independently documents in the computerized medical record.
k) Other duties may be assigned within LEC or outside of this particular program but serving the needs of the Behavioral Health Service Line.
l) Facilitates liaisons with other medical center programs in order to effectively coordinate services.
m) Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Mental Health Clinic program manager, Assistant Chief of Psychology, and the Chief of Behavioral Health, and other meetings as assigned to participate.
n) Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes).
Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
