The Opportunity

This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA office in the Heart Failure Division. At Abbott Heart Failure, our work is guided by our mission. We aspire to pioneer and increase access to life-saving, connected innovations that empower people to take control of their health by delivering seamless clinical solutions, from diagnosis to monitoring and treatment. 

As the Associate Product Manager for Mechanical Circulatory Support, you will be the core marketing owner and driver of success for the highly critical HeartMate 3™ LVAD and  CentriMag™ System. This role will focus on upstream product marketing for the MCS franchise and will work closely with regional marketing teams and be responsible for maintaining seamless business operations for large- and small-scale new product launches.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop global market expertise for the HeartMate 3™ LVAD and  CentriMag™ System, including in depth knowledge of market trends, franchise critical success factors, customer needs, and competitor products and strategies. 
  • Take a support role on launch planning process teams for the game-changing innovations in LVAD that make recipients live like they don’t have heart failure. 
  • Own project execution, assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks and developing continency plans. 
  • Communicate project status effectively in a timely manner utilizing standard reports. 
  • Ensure cross-functional and regional stakeholders are informed of relevant project deliverables, and maintain open channels of communication with leadership on key projects. 
  • Assist in developing and creating best-in-class product messaging and communication plans in collaboration with regional marketers and sales teams. 
  • Support development and communication of supply plan and update global demand forecasts with rationale for business continuity projects. 
  • Develop strategies and communication plans to address product performance issues. 
  • Take a support role on select go-to-market projects including defining market access, distribution, customer segmentation and targeting, product positioning and promotion strategies. 
  • Support and learn to develop annual marketing plans, including participating in and leading projects for market research, developing project roadmaps, and identifying future business risks and opportunities. 
  • Create compelling business and project proposals, use data to tell stories and guide improvements for the business and customers. 
  • Seek out insights based on voice of the customer and help compile and communicate unmet user needs and pain points to internal organization and project teams. 
  • Collaborate with regulatory and product marketing colleagues to produce promotional and educational content; provide on-market product support to regional commercial teams. 
  • Identify key business questions/issues, formulate hypotheses, collect data necessary to evaluate the hypotheses, perform analysis and summarize conclusions/ recommendations. 
  • Travel required 25% of the time. 

Required Qualifications 

  • B.A., or B.S. degree required. Preferably in a technical or scientific field.  
  • At least 2 years of experience in healthcare with background in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics or devices. 
  • Job requires proficiency in marketing fundamentals and business operations. 
  • Strong project management skills, and ability to balance multiple projects. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, model and present data in a compelling and organized fashion. 
  • Relentless curiosity—seeks information to uncover risks, takes ownership of problems 
  • Exercises sound judgment, and determines appropriate course of action. 
  • Approachable and credible communication style, with strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Intellectual agility—able to understand and comply with Regulatory requirements, and pivot based on shifting priorities. 
  • Positive attitude, confidence, integrity, and professionalism. Initiative and self-motivation; strong work ethic; leadership and team orientation; strong proactive interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with others; ability to work in a matrixed environment and manage through influence. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • MBA or M.S. degree in a technical or scientific field.

The base pay for this position is $86,700.00 – $173,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
