Music and Performing Arts - Director of Keyboard Activities and Accompanist

Job Summary



The Director of Keyboard Activities is primarily responsible for overseeing the piano proficiency program for majors and minors at Bethel University. Other duties include overseeing piano students, teaching keyboard students and coordinating with other faculty on organizing lessons, and awarding scholarships. The position also involves accompanying instrumental students and playing for a choral ensemble.
This position may be combined with other open positions in the Department of Music and Performing Arts, including instructor for Introduction to the Creative Arts, Orchestra director, and director of Lucia Chorum, depending on the qualifications of the candidate.





Responsibilities



* Teach piano lessons for majors and non-majors toward the piano proficiency requirement
* Collaborate with other music faculty on the direction and success of keyboard students
* Attend and accompany rehearsals and concerts for Lucia Chorum choral ensemble
* Accompany instrumental students at juries, recitals, and hearings
* Contribute to an academic environment that seeks to advance inclusive excellence in the program and the University





Skills



* Strong performance and accompaniment skills.
* Thorough knowledge of diverse and appropriate level piano literature
* Proven ability to collaborate with other directors
* Proven ability to work with students of various levels
* Understanding and ability to prepare students toward undergraduate piano proficiency





Experience



Experience teaching students from beginner to advanced required; experience teaching on the college level preferred.





Education



Education:
Bachelor's degree in music performance or music education is required; Master's degree strongly preferred
