Description of Work Unit | The Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU) is the student voice on campus. The elected representatives of ASCSU advocate for CSU students on campus and at the local, state, and national levels of government. With a focus on leadership and identity development, belonging and inclusion, community engagement and participation, and financial responsibility and stewardship, ASCSU staff members advocate and support traditions, initiatives, and communities that benefit the student body with hands-on, experiential, and co-curricular learning. All students have the potential to serve, lead, create change, and advocate on behalf of their peers, as well as be financial stewards of their funds. Students learn through engaging in the leadership process, and the limitless opportunities within ASCSU serve as a venue to practice leadership and hone skills. The professional staff members working with ASCSU are a part of the Office of Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement. The SLiCE office offers a broad range of programs and services for Colorado State University students, faculty, staff, and the community in the areas of leadership development, student involvement, service and volunteer programs, and basic needs programs and services. Through the programs at SLiCE, students find both support and resources to graduate as engaged, active participants and leaders in their local, national, and global communities. SLiCE provides support and resources to 500+ registered student organizations (RSO). The mission of the Lory Student Center (LSC) is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and inspire active, engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the LSC is a comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers. The LSC annual operating budget is approximately $40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and 650 student and hourly staff serve approximately 24,000 people entering the facility on a daily basis and hosts approximately 13,000 annual events and meetings Areas within the Lory Student Center include the CSU Bookstore; Campus Activities; Lory Dining Services; Marketing; Operations; SLiCE; and an extensive array of business and service partners. The work of the Lory Student Center staff members is guided by and in alignment with CSU’s Principles of Community, the Division of Student Affairs Values, and the Lory Student Center Mission. |
Position Summary | This part-time position will provide general office management duties, student staff front office supervision, and coordinate office-wide student staff hiring/HR processes. This position analyzes, organizes, and establishes work processes to ensure the smooth operation and delivery of services, and provides support on special projects. Some work responsibilities may occur in evenings or on weekends. This information will be shared in a timely fashion. The Administrative Assistant has an abiding commitment to serving the diverse needs of the University community, the active promotion of an equitable and inclusive environment, and the development and enhancement of collaborative relationships.
