Job Description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, PHONATHON PROGRAM, Alumni Association, to collaborate with the senior director on creating and implementing strategy, tracking, and marketing for the Phonathon Program, an outbound telemarketing program employing students.  Will provide direct day-to-day management of the sixteen-station call center, including recruitment, training, and retention of its 40+ student employees; have regular contact with MIT students, alumni, Alumni Association staff, Institute staff in other administrative offices, VanillaSoft staff (telemarketing platform), and other outside vendors; and assist with various direct marketing projects, including direct mail, texting, and e-marketing outreach.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree; at least two years of relevant work experience; ability to recruit, motivate, train, and manage student workers; excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills for establishing trust and credibility with students, external vendors and partners, and staff at all levels of the Institute; ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a team member; experience with automated telemarketing software; and proficiency with PC computers and standard applications (including Microsoft Word, Excel, FileMaker, and PowerPoint).  Seek a results-driven, detail-oriented individual who demonstrates organizational and analytical skills, initiative, and a proactive approach to the workload.  PREFERRED:  staff or student management experience; background in nonprofit organizations or higher education telemarketing experience; experience with VanillaSoft; knowledge of database software; and data analysis, budgeting, marketing, and/or public relations skills.  Job #24003-6

The work hours are determined by staffing needs of evening and weekend phonathons, typically Sunday through Thursday.  Will work regular business hours when phonathon shifts are not scheduled.
