Job Description

JOB REQUIREMENTS: SHINE Technologies is seeking an experienced and
highly motivated Senior Chemical Engineer to help lead engineering
efforts for the design of a used nuclear fuel (UNF) recycling pilot
facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to take a nuclear
process design from the early preliminary stage through detailed design,
licensing with the nuclear regulatory commission (NRC), procurement of
equipment, and construction. Ideal candidates would have experience with
design of nuclear chemical processes, safety analysis, equipment
selection, and NRC licensing. This position is in a small but dynamic
team that includes design engineering, safety analysis, radiochemistry,
and licensing team members. While this type of process (liquid-liquid
separation) has been commercialized before, new technologies are being
integrated into the design to improve proliferation resistance and
maximize recovery of the valuable resources contained in UNF. This role
requires the ability to work effectively both independently on analyses
and specifications and in a team to provide engineering expertise needed
for the team to successfully integrate these new technologies into a
commercial design. The Senior Chemical Engineer will also be asked to
think strategically about goals, schedule, and budget, and help define
guidance for the team on items such as selection of codes and standards,
seismic design approach, and application of nuclear quality
requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: Specific duties and
responsibilities of the Senior Chemical Engineer include, but are not
limited to: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to progress design
and licensing of UNF recycling pilot facility. Provide strategic and
day-to-day guidance on activities for the team to complete work
efficiently. Lead regular team meetings to coordinate project activities
and update project status and schedule. Maintain documentation on
baseline design, including facility design requirements, process
description, process flow diagram, and mass balance. Develop equipment
data sheets and specifications to communicate equipment requirements to
vendors and design partners. Prepare, review, or provide direction on
chemical engineering analyses in areas such as mass balance, flow and
pressure drop, and thermal hydraulics. Provide input to project goals,
schedule, and budget. Actively participate in hazard and operability
studies (HAZOPs) and design reviews. Provide input to equipment layout
to maximize process efficiency, factoring in operation, maintenance, and
safety considerations. Identify and evaluate key technical project
risks, develop solutions, and communicate to senior management. Provide
guidance to and mentor junior engineers. \*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering or related
discipline. Seven years or more of relevant engineering experience.
Energized by solving interesting design engineering challenges.
Willingness to learn and understand new technology and technical
processes. Ability to manage and drive multiple activities forward,
prioritizing them in a way that contributes most to Company success.
Cooperative approach to problem solving, being open to input from
multiple parties. Ability to think strategically and take decisive
action once the necessary information has been gathered. Ability to
critically evaluate information and the confidence to ask questions when
things don\'t make sense. Experience designing or selecting equipment
for operation in harsh environments. Familiarity with nuclear industry
design, operations, and regulatory requirements. Preferred
Qualifications: Knowledge of nuclear fuel cycle processes. Experience as
a Principal Investigator on a complex project. Experience scaling up
laboratory processes to commercial scale. Familiarity with facility
design, licensing, and construction under 10 CFR Part 50. Experience
interacting with a regulatory body, such as NRC. \*\*\*\*\* APPLICATION
