Position Summary | The Ella Cline Shear School of Education at SUNY Geneseo seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Adolescence English Education. The School of Education has a long and rich history of preparing teachers who are knowledgeable, skilled in their instructional practices, passionate about their work, and motivated to provide leadership within their profession. Preservice teachers are placed in diverse field experiences throughout the region beginning in the second semester of their teacher education programs. Our candidates’ successes are evidenced by an overall 98% pass rate on the New York State Teacher Certification examinations for the past three years. All teacher certification programs of the School of Education are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The School of Education offers undergraduate programs leading to initial teacher certification in Early Childhood and Childhood Education (Birth-6), Teaching Students with Disabilities (all grades, PreK-12) and Childhood Education (grades 1-6), and Adolescence Education (grades 7-12). Additionally, graduate students can work toward professional certification through our graduate program in Reading and Literacy (Birth-12) program. The priority for our growing programs is teaching excellence: We seek someone with a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting who is prepared to teach both introductory courses and advanced courses in their area/s of expertise. A commitment to, and experience in, working effectively with students from diverse backgrounds is essential.
