Lead Maintenance (2nd Shift)Shift: 2nd Shift, 1pm - 9:30pmWage: $39.12 per hourPosition Objective:The Maintenance lead is responsible for leading by example in the areas of Safety, Quality and Reliability/ Continuous Improvement. Lead will work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, Mechanics and key production personnel.The Lead is also responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repairs in support of the facility. The lead will work with a variety of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and controls. Superior logical-thinking and troubleshooting skills are critical.Job duties will include but are not be limited to the following:*Primary Function:A Maintenance lead is the highest ranking, and is held to a higher standardTroubleshoot, repair and maintain plant processing equipment. Address errors that occur with machines and makes determination of repairs needed. Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.Responds with a sense of urgency and assigns the appropriate personnel to emergency floor calls. Notifies maintenance supervisor if there is no resolution within 45 minutes.Reviews PM work performed by mechanics for correctness, completeness and sign off on WOR.Follow established LQMS roles and responsibilities. Enter work into JDE E1 system.Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests within scope of training and expertise. Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needsInitiates a tool box meeting at the beginning of each shift to review SQR issuesReviews corrective and emergency work orders produced on shift for accuracy and improvement.Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions*Secondary Function:Maintain work area, tools and shop equipment in a clean and functional mannerMaintain maintenance logs accurately and neatlyFollow the Melrose preventative maintenance programPerform additional duties within the department or plant as scheduled or requestedServes as a primary interface with customers in the identification/repair of developing or non-scheduled problems with equipment and process systems. Communicates findings/observations to the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, and executes action plans with minimal supervision.Is proactive in making recommendations to reduce and improve maintenance work wherever feasible; assuring efficient and productive operation of plant, process and equipment; while protecting and prolonging the economic life of plant assets; all at the least (optimal) cost practical*Quality:Follow LQMS guidelines through monitoring and verificationCommunicate quality concerns to appropriate personnel regarding defective product in timely mannerMonitor and follow GMPs. Follow allergen programFollow established traffic patterns as outlined*Safety Responsibility:Use proper lifting techniques when performing Maintenance duties.Follow plant safety rules and procedures.Encourage safe work techniques for all employees.Perform all duties safely and to use discretion to prevent injuries.Complete annual safety refresher training requirements.*Physical Responsibility:Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, pull, stoop and lift when performing maintenance work. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms above shoulder height, climb or balance. Occasionally required to sit or perform work in close quarters.Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Must be able to wear a respirator and/or SCBA if required*Interpersonal / Organizational Responsibilities:Must be able to work in a team environment.Must be able to follow written methods, paying close attention to details.Must be able to follow specific work direction and adjust as necessary to accomplish the job.Must be able to maintain legible & accurate records / paperwork as required. Accurately record notes in JDE E1.Must have communication skills to properly explain product quality issues to appropriate production personnel.Must have skills to properly explain equipment, product quality, or production issues to maintenance, lab, or other production personnel during pre-shift meetings, at shift hand off, and during your shift. This may involve communicating in problem solving events or meetings.Must have the ability to communicate positively to all LOL, customer, regulatory or vendor representatives as needed.Written or practical testing may be used to determine level of proficiency.*Qualifications:Must have High School Diploma or GED.Must have mechanical aptitude.Must be willing to increase knowledge of PLCsMust have problem analysis and problem solving skills.Must have a willingness & openness to change and manage through changes.Must be able to work with people and must possess the interpersonal skills as identified above.Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.Three or more years related maintenance experience and/or training, or combination of education and experience.
