Summary of Duties:
The New Student Experience Coordinator will have responsibility to coordinate, implement, and execute the developed plans for the WSU Spokane campus orientation including the Yakima clinical site. They will also collaborate in the development of extended orientation opportunities through students' first year and will implement the plans for these opportunities.
They will collaborate with stakeholders across campus to develop programming to welcome upper division, graduate, and professional students to WSU Spokane. They will help students understand and access support, resources, and create a sense of belonging within the interprofessional campus community. They will play a vital role in providing an immersive orientation and onboarding experience to assist students in transitioning through their health science journey. The New Student Experience Coordinator will represent the University and the campus in many capacities while organizing programming and managing processes and procedures for new students.
This position is located at WSU Spokane, in Spokane, Washington and is a part of the Enrollment Center in the Division of Student Affairs.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Student Transition Coordinator: 40%
• Collaborate with campus stakeholders in the development of programming and learning outcomes to aid in the transition to WSU Spokane and the Yakima clinical campus. Coordinates and implements programming and events for students.
• Coordinate with campus admissions and academic programs to facilitate onboarding for new students.
• Initiate appropriate referrals to faculty, staff, advisors, and resources.
• Coordinate communication campaign for new student support and integration into campus community.
• In collaboration with supervisor, assists with the development of strategies that engage new students and integrate them into the campus community through continuous connection to campus resources.
• Collaborates with student leaders and college partners to develop and implement extended orientation experiences that promote student connections to the WSU Spokane and Yakima campus locations and the WSU community.
• Develop student community and interprofessional relationships to increase cross-program engagement.
• Collect data and prepare reports to provide feedback on the overall effectiveness of onboarding.
Campus Orientation: 30%
• Develop and manage event logistics, initiatives, and learning outcomes related to campus orientation for WSU Spokane and the Yakima clinical campus.
• Plan and implement Campus Orientation for Spokane and Yakima.
• Collaborate with academic program orientation planning committees to ensure complimentary programming.
• Chair orientation committee and lead committee meetings that include all relevant colleagues and departments.
• In coordination with the CRM Manager, assist in managing pre-orientation and orientation within the University CRM.
• In coordination with the New Student Experience Manager, maintain and update pre-orientation modules for Student Affairs while collaborating with academic programs to ensure complimentary information.
• In coordination with the New Student Experience Manager, maintain and update orientation portal and communication plan.
• Train campus/program students/staff to implement campus orientation.
• Develop an extended orientation plan for continuous onboarding throughout students' first year at WSU Spokane.
• Assist with developing, administering, and analyzing pre and post assessment.
Student Programming & Events: 25%
• In collaboration with the ELC Hub coordinators, develop learning outcomes, plan, coordinate events and programming for students to enrich the student experience.
• Co-host resource fairs and information sessions with ELC and other Students Affairs staff.
• Coordinate holistic engagement connecting academic and non-academic support and resources. Co-host workshops with academic departments and Student Affairs partners to build on knowledge introduced at orientation.
• Tracks activities and evaluates effectiveness and recommends outreach changes and improvements. Compiles data on student success and participation.
• In collaboration with the New Student Experience Manager, monitor and track budget expenditures for programming.
• Develop a communication strategy to advertise programming. Collaborate on marketing materials using different communication mediums to advertise opportunities to students.
Other: 5%
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Requirements:
• Program Specialty: Experience coordinating activities related to student life, event planning, or other closely related experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Demonstrated organization and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with varying deadlines.
• Experience with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license by time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Previous experience with Washington State University, or in higher education.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a highly flexible and visible office environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of different ages.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on specific objectives.

Monthly Salary: Range 40, $3,376 to $4,497, Steps A-M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. Step M is typically a longevity step.
