SALARY: $22.87 / hour (Grade 9)

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This class involves the performance of journeyman level skilled work requiring a thorough knowledge of all aspects of one or more of the building construction or maintenance trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, masonry or electrical repair, maintenance and installation. General instructions are received for work assignments and the employee is permitted wide leeway in planning and executing the work. This class is distinguished from
other building maintenance classes in that an employee in this class must possess journeyman level knowledge and skills in one or more of the construction or maintenance trades and must be able to work without supervision when performing work within his/ her specialty. Supervision may be exercised over Building Maintenance Workers or other maintenance personnel when engaged in work associated with his/ her trade specialty. Does related work as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of all aspects of one or more of the building construction or maintenance trades; good knowledge of building maintenance and repair procedures; good knowledge of safety precautions necessary in the performance of the work; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to lay out work and estimate required materials, tools, time and personnel; depending on the particular position, ability to supervise the work of others; skill in the use of the tools of the trade; manual dexterity;
mechanical aptitude; initiative; willingness to respond to calls on a 24 hour a day basis; good physical condition.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: : One year of experience as a journeyman trades worker in one of the building construction or maintenance trades.
