The Workday Operations team is part of UW-IT and supports the University’s faculty, staff and student workers by configuring and supporting UW’s Workday HCM, Payroll, and Finance Modules. Within Workday Operations, the Workday Security Team supports supports the design, provisioning and management of Workday Security. The hallmarks of Workday Operations are delivering services that are timely, accurate and highly attuned to the fast-paced university environment.

We are looking for a Senior Security Specialist to join the UW’s Workday Security Team. The security team supports critical infrastructure and IT services for account and credential management, authentication, sign-on, access control and administration and participation in global security federations, all in support of institutional finance, HR, and Payroll needs for identity, privacy, security, accountability, transparency, efficiency, and cost-effective management of institutional risk.

This position provides technical consulting, education, outreach, and support to the customers and end-users of Workday Access services. Responsibilities include researching and responding to customer needs, troubleshooting complex security issues, developing business requirements, contributing to projects that change the Workday feature sets and business processes, and coordinating testing/validation of security changes.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Business Administration, Information Management or related field or experience.
  • Minimum three years’ experience providing direct customer support in an enterprise help desk or service desk environment responsible for self-service, request fulfillment, incident management, problem and change resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability in technical writing, maintaining and developing internal and external customer facing knowledge base articles, and customer communications.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management practices and tools in a business or university setting.
  • Familiarity providing documentation, training and technical instructions to customers with varied technical expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assist in, and resolve issues with services, using agreed upon procedures.
  • Demonstrated written/oral communication skills, user liaison skills and personal interaction abilities.

    Desired:

  • Previous experience in a SaaS infrastructure, system security access analysis, and/or systems analyst role.
  • Familiarity with core identity management concepts, capabilities, and supporting business practices for identity registration, proofing, record matching, lifecycle management, credential assignment, and authentication.
  • Experience with single sign-on (SSO) and identity federation protocols and technologies (SAML, OIDC).
  • Experience managing API Clients and X.509 certificates in a SaaS environment.
  • Familiarity with business analysis practices for identifying user needs.
  • Familiarity integrating IT applications with IAM services, APIs, institutional information, and/or infrastructure.
  • Workday Security Pro-Certification
  • Familiarity with NIST cybersecurity standards and Center for Internet Security (CIS) controls.
  • Experience with project or task tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Trello, Asana).
  • Experience with SOC Type 2 reports, major audit, accounting, or consulting firm.
  • Experience in higher education and research communities.
