DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: An employee in this class is responsible for providing psychiatric nurse practitioner services with advanced knowledge of psychopharmacology and prescriptive authority or psychotropic medications for clients of the Community Mental Health Agency. The incumbent must possess the clinical skills to exercise independent professional judgment as a medical provider within the guidelines of agreements and protocols. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Community Mental Health Services and Psychiatrist. Supervision may be exercised over the work of professional clinical staff, and nonmedical personnel.<p> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma recognized by the NYS Department of Education, AND Graduation from a NYS Certified Nurse Practitioner Program AND Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse or Nurse Practitioner. <p> SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in NYS. Possession of a certificate to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in NYS as specified in Section 6910 of NYS Education Law.
