About the Role

Magna Steyr is looking for talented and experienced team members to join the Electrical and Electronics Engineering team. Looking for candidates who are determined and passionate about developing the next generation of technology. The Resident Engineer would be responsible for leading EE activities related to design, development, Integration, Testing & Validation activities for the EE systems. This position has high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams and Tier 2 suppliers.

Your Responsibilities

Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team
•    Responsible for supporting all E/E activities for multiple platforms from development to launch
•    Responsible for supporting all customer (OEM) activities onsite for Integration, testing & validation
•    Responsible for communications with OEM, suppliers, and coordinating with internal global teams
•    Support prototype builds, lead customer meetings, workshops with OEM, Suppliers, and third parties 
•    Support OEM to track issues during design, testing, Validation, & production phases and coordinate with internal team to ensure issues are getting resolved in a timely and priority manner
•    Support OEM to ensure product timing, release of SW/HW and quality targets are met
•    Support calibration, testing and validation activities with suppliers and OEM
•    Support vehicle instrumentation, data collection, activities with internal teams to support customers
•    Confirm customer deliverables are on schedule and meeting program timing (ex. DVP&R, DFMEA) 

 

Who we are looking for

Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
•    Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
•    Responsible for the release of Computer Aided Design (CAD) data into internal and external sites
•    Responsible for the release of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), simulations and studies into internal or external sites
•    Responsible for designing and meeting the serial production, First Time Quality (FTQ) and targets

Project Related Interface 
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration 
•    Lead global development touchpoint and milestone meetings 
•    Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) and other cross functional teams to make complex decisions to assure production feasibility
  
Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions
•    Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
•    Ability to work independently in highly leveraged, cross functional global teams 
•    Responsible for raising any foreseeable issues and concerns to Magna Steyr (MS) management
•    Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members

•    Must have a positive “can do” attitude
•    Must be flexible and able to course correct paths according to priority alignment
•    Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with global teams
•    Education - BSEE / BSME 
•    10+ Years of experience in E/E domain integration, vehicle development in OEM or Tier1 supplier
•    10+ Years of experience as a resident engineer working with US or European OEMs is required
•    Experience in design, release and testing of E/E components and assemblies (e.g., BCM, ACM, Fuses, Relays, other ECUs) and associated brackets, fasteners, or retention mechanisms
•    Experience working and collaborating with Global team (Germany, Europe) is required
•    Experience in leading customer meetings and issues management is highly desirable
•    Experience in vehicle development and launching a complete vehicle preferred
•    Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Computer knowledge and skills in CAD and CAE simulation preferred
•    Professional Communication skills (written and verbal) 
•    Experience in Electric Vehicle (EV) development preferred 
•    Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
•    May require local, domestic, and international travel – less than 15% domestic + international
