The School of Nursing & Healthcare Leadership has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Placement Coordinator. This individual will, under the general direction of the Academic Services Director, be responsible for planning, developing, and evaluating clinical sites consistent with program and course objectives; coordinating clinical placements; working with agency personnel and UWT faculty, students, and staff to facilitate effective learning in clinical sites; collaborate with peers and represent the school. This person will interact on a regular basis with staff and faculty in the School, participate in strategic planning for the School, and plan and conduct practicum or fieldwork informational sessions. This position will require the individual to work independently in accomplishing the full job duties and responsibilities, and seeking guidance as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Clearances: 45%
  • Effectively communicate clinical clearance requirements to all SNHCL students prior to fieldwork or practicum courses.
  • Plan and participate in practicum and/or fieldwork information sessions, and provide additional student clinical clearance resources as needed.
  • Manage student clinical clearance tracking requirements and background checks in clinical placement databases (e.g., CastleBranch) in compliance with Clinical Placements Northwest (CPNW) passport or other agency clinical placement/on-boarding requirements as needed.
  • Maintain faculty clinical clearance requirements and background checks in compliance with CPNW.

    Clinical Placement Coordination: 45%
  • Collaborate with School program faculty leads on fieldwork and practicum needs to meet program requirements.
  • Identify clinical placement opportunities for SNHCL students based on their interest surveys.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key personnel at local agencies where affiliation agreements are established and at agencies where an established affiliation agreement would be mutually beneficial (such as preceptors, managers, directors).
  • Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and clinical sites to ensure smooth transitions into fieldwork or clinical placements; provide students and preceptors with key information about clinical placement goals, objectives and requirements.
  • Participate and represent school at state and/or regional clinical placement stakeholder information-sharing groups and collaborations.

    Manage Program Assessments: 10%
  • Maintain regular communication with program leadership, faculty, clinical instructors, students, and fieldwork/clinical placement agencies.
  • Ensure all annual surveys are updated and distributed to school alumni and other constituencies as needed.
  • Facilitate end of program surveys quarterly to school graduates.
  • Facilitate quarterly evaluations of program fieldwork sites to students, faculty, and preceptors.
  • Establish and maintain effective processes to assess, evaluate, and report clinical clearance and clinical placement data required to meet state and national accreditation standards.
  • Ensure maintenance of web-based versions of the surveys and evaluations.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in utilizing complex organizational and communication tools or 3 years direct work as a clinical placement coordinator
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to and understanding of the learning needs of diverse adult learners.

  • Experience using MS Office products, with a history of easily adapting to new technologies.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of UW and UW Tacoma.
  • Experience working with students in an academic setting.
  • Experience in clinical nursing education, staff development, or clinical placement.
  • Familiarity with South Puget Sound clinical agencies.
  • Master’s Degree.
