Software Engineer, Search Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. C++ or Java), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting, and experience developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems. Experience with API design, implementation and integration, and ability to make short-term/long-term decisions.
  • Experience with quality analysis and iteration, including metrics development and analysis, good reporting and data summarization skills.
  • Knowledge of modern Machine Learning (ML) techniques, including Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Responsibilities

  • Execute independently on complex software development tasks, under the supervision of a tech lead. Make substantial improvements to existing systems or create new systems, planning out and independently executing work over multiple weeks’ time.
  • Optimize Search latency for core web search systems. Contribute directly to Search growth by providing a faster experience for our users. 
  • Build machine learning models and tune existing ones to more efficiently serve Search features and results to users. Improve, adapt, and extend core Search result generation systems.
  • Deepen our understanding of search behaviors and user information needs through logs analysis and model building to improve result quality and latency, delighting users.
