Working under the direction of nursing, contributes to the Hospital’s mission to care, to heal, and to excel in service to our community by assisting the surgical services team in preparing rooms, transporting patients and performing other functions to optimize the efficiency of the Operating Room department. This clinical-support position has an impact on reducing patient harm by thoroughly cleaning rooms between procedures and on patient satisfaction by professionally and empathetically supporting patients as they enter the surgical environment and on minimizing turnaround times.

Job Description:

To be considered for a Seasonal CA role, you must be able to fulfill "ALL" of the following requirements:

  • To apply for the position, you must be a local nursing student in your sophomore or junior year.

  • Ability to work full-time (32-40 hrs/week). This includes alternating weekends.

  • Need to be able to work full-time during the Summer AND College breaks.

  • Must be able to work one (1) major holiday in the summer and one (1) during winter breaks.

  • Ability to work 12-hour "Night" shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)

  • For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and fellow members of the hospital team

Education/Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.  

Preferred:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant or a nursing student with completion of two (2) clinical rotations or equivalent education or one (1) year clinical care experience

Other Skills/Knowledge:

Preferred:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of surgical equipment and procedures

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS: 

Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant

LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:  Basic Life Support

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

On-call:  N/A

Schedule requirements:  May be required to stay beyond shift based on patient needs.

Travel requirements:   N/A

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/or Designee
  • Works under the direction of a nurse
  • Does not supervise others
