The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), at the University of Minnesota announces an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic and growing academic medicine department as a full-time academic physiatrist. We are seeking a dynamic and energetic professional who desires to be a part of the M Health Fairview multi-disciplinary, patient-centered, General Physiatry Program.
As a physiatrist, the candidate's responsibility will include working with the PM&R Medical Director/Division Director and leadership to expand our physiatry program. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellent patient care, possess strong clinical skills, have outstanding interpersonal skills, and have an interest in education and scholarly activity. Job Duties/Responsibilities:
* Provide outpatient General Physiatry care within the M Health Fairview system. Patients served include patients suffering from stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputee, multiple sclerosis, musculoskeletal injuries, complex neurological conditions, prehabilitation, migraine/headache, as well as complex medical conditions.
* Work with the PM&R Medical Director/Division Director and leadership to build strong relationships with referring departments and units to maintain and strengthen the program.
* Participation in call coverage at the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (IRF) on a rotating basis.
* Provide cross-coverage of inpatient services for absences, as needed.
* Working with APP's and trainees (medical students, residents, fellows, visiting students, and other allied health professionals) in inpatient and outpatient settings.
* Close all patient encounters before eight (8) calendar days.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
Physiatrists must be a graduate of an accredited PM&R residency training program, be board-certified or board-eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R), be eligible to obtain a Minnesota Board of Medical Practice license, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. Applicants must possess the skills to manage change and communicate effectively in a rapidly expanding department. Enthusiasm, a collaborative nature, and an interest in cultivating a thriving academic PM&R practice are essential to the success of the department.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience collaborating with individuals across multiple departments, practices, and health systems.
* Experience with botulinum toxins injections to treat spasticity, dystonia, and migraines/headaches.

About the Department



As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the candidate will join an active academic physiatry clinical practice and a growing academic department. Faculty members mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals; including teaching, training, and general supervision in a clinical setting. Academic track and rank are determined by the applicant's qualifications and interests. Academic time is used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research expertise. Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment.
