Description

Serve as the expert technical liaison between OEMs in developing technical specifications, implementing designs, and delivering high performance, low-cost equipment and system results that are integrated with user’s solutions. Obtain input and negotiate with Subject Matter Experts and Value Package Introduction (VPI) teams and deliver product data and installation requirements to Application Engineers and OEMs. Utilize systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the areas of product selection, design and integration that impact OEM machine performance, optimization and quality. Create and improve processes such as Installation Quality Assurance (IQA), OEM integration and product selection and tools such as Advisor, Cummins OnLine Specifications (COLS) and Global Customer Engineering (GCE) required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making. Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, documentation, and testing activities of the Cummins Product Line in order to ensure compliance with specification and codes required for commercial and domestic purposes. Impact product design decisions through the utilization of Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis tools and methods that predict the capability of a product’s function relative to its system, sub-system and/or component level requirements. Coordinate and direct work of cross-functional project teams, and present project status and proposes solutions to roadblocks for key internal or external team members, such as business leadership. Use experience with Technical Customer Management to provide engineering data, documentation and training to customers to support the design and integration of equipment. Lead the translation of customer needs and Voice of the customer (VOC) into functional product requirements to provide input on program-related decisions. Identify and apply schematics to optimize machine integration to make critical program-related decisions while serving as the stakeholder/market advocate inside Cummins during workshopping in new product development programs, design reviews and product change request processes. Solve product problems for the customer by identifying the systemic root causes and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Provide Product Application Support to ensure new product information is available by developing and managing accurate and complete technical content in a timely manner to support customers and the business.

Experience and Education:

Positions require a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience as an Application, Integration or Product Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience as an Application, Integration or Product Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: System Integration to develop technical specifications; Installation Quality Assurance (IQA); Machine Integration and Optimization; Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis; Technical Customer Management; Voice of the customer (VOC); Product problem solving; Product Application Support.
