About the Job



Duties and Responsibilities:
This position has two primary responsibilities: IT support for Gopher Athletics sports events and service desk IT support during business hours.
(75%) Sporting Events:
Athletics IT Technicians provide basic computer and networking support during sporting events. Events are held 7 days a week and often on weeknights and weekends. IT support includes but is not limited to: printers, wifi/wired network, PC/Apple, Surface, general technology troubleshooting.
(25%) Service Desk:
Athletics IT provides computer, mobile device, network, printing, and programming and web services for 250+ employees and 700+ Student Athletes. The Help Desk Technician will be the helpful voice answering the telephone when Athletics staff members call with technology questions or issues. We provide support through various mediums such as remote assistance, walk up service, traveling to other facilities on campus, and, most frequently, the telephone. On a day to day basis the Athletics IT Technicians will work independently on known and documented issues, work on projects as assigned by help desk staff, and field / troubleshoot any new issues that arise.

Qualifications



Required:
Two years experience and/or equivalent education working with Windows based computers
Experience troubleshooting PC hardware and software
Basic understanding of networking
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work independently and follow procedures and instructions
Able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
Availability to work Gopher Athletics events on weeknights and weekends
Current or incoming undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota
A valid US driver's license
Preferred:
Customer service experience
Experience with Mac OSX
Experience with iOS devices (iPhones or iPads)
Two or more years remaining before graduation
