Department overview

Clinical Support Associate/Nursing Assistants support patient care in a variety of our different units (based on what unit(s) have openings). As a Clinical Support Associate/Nursing Assistant, you will provide patient care and support to various ages of children from newborns through young adulthood including but not limited to acute medical/surgical, hematology/oncology, critical care and emergency patients. As a Clinical Support Associate/Nursing Assistant you will play a vital role in Children's national recognition for patient safety and family-centered care, the patient care leadership is dedicated to the growth and development of each of its team members.

Position Summary

This position is temporary, meaning it is not eligible for benefits. Employment would begin on Monday, May 20th, and end when school starts up again in late August or early September. You must have a valid and active Basic Life Skills certification to apply. Candidates can select which campus and shift length they prefer. The options are Saint Paul or the Minneapolis hospital campus, and 8- or 12-hour shifts.

Clinical Support Associate/Nursing Assistants are key members of the patient care team and will provide safe patient care as delegated by licensed nursing staff based on the unit needs; you will also maintain equipment and supplies per unit standards. Many of our Clinical Support Associate/Nursing Assistants are nursing students pursing an Associates or BSN degree. This role offers practical hands-on experience supporting patients and families.

Completion of one clinical course of an RN program OR listed on the state's Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire date. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another CSA position. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Education
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience
* One year of previous Nursing Assistant experience or equivalent experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities
* Proficient communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills required.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English to perform functions of the position.
* Skills in basic computer operation.

The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children's Minnesota.
