CenterWell is seeking a Medical Scribe , this position is for a medical transcriptionist who will transcribe visit notes into the electronic medical record system.

Job Functions:

  • Editing and correcting medical dictation performed by speech recognition software.

  • Ensuring uncompromised patient care by transcribing fast and accurately, as well as performing thorough editing.

  • Typing out the full forms of medical abbreviations and acronyms, as well as the formal versions of medical jargon.

  • Identifying and following up on inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a transcribed report.

  • Submitting transcriptions to healthcare professionals for their approval in a timely manner.

  • Performing additional tasks such as following up and revising patient history, as well as entering medical reports into electronic health records systems.

  • Protecting patient confidentiality and adhering to legal requirements.

  • Receive patients, schedule appointments, and maintain patient records

  • Work with transcription equipment that can include speech recognition equipment, word processing, and computer software

  • Create templates and enter data into electronic health record (EHR) systems for updated record keeping and archives

  • Performing clerical and administrative tasks as necessary, including mail, phone calls, scheduling, submitting insurance claims, and operating common office machines.

  • Recording patient medical histories, physical examinations, test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans in digital audio files

  • Providing customer service to physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and patients through email, telephone, or face-to-face meetings

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Medical Scribe/Transcriptionist, or similar, such as provider documentation/notes and medical charting

  • EMR Experience

  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Record systems.

  • Ability to transcribe accurately and maintain a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.

  • Experience with specialized transcription equipment and voice recognition software.

  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and jargon, as well as editing practice.

  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and meet legal requirements.

  • Exceptional written communication skills and knowledge of medical record formats.

  • Willing to travel to nearby clinics to help when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • eCW Experience Strongly preferred

  • Certification as a healthcare documentation specialist would be advantageous.

  • Medical Assistant Background

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Microsoft Access proficiency

Working hours : Monday to Friday 8AM-5PM

Additional Information

  • This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana/Senior Bridge's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB.

  • Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters.

  • Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$38,000 - $45,800 per year
