Position Summary | The Maintenance Supervisor 1 works in a supervisory role in which the candidate should expect to spend some of their time in the field servicing and repairing HVAC controls equipment and systems and the majority of their time acting as a shop supervisor. In this supervisory role, you will be responsible for oversight, diagnosis and coordination of repairs for multiple building mechanical control and Building Management Systems (BMS) that control HVAC equipment. You will be leading the team as well as utilizing strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Duties include:

Departmental Operating Needs | The candidate must have demonstrated experience and understanding of commercial/institutional HVAC mechanical equipment, systems, controls and sequence of operations for air handling units, roof top units, VAV boxes, fan coil units, fume hoods, unit heaters, exhaust fans, variable speed drives, humidifiers and all other institutional equipment and systems. The candidate must have:
Since the activities of other employees and University Departments depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy. The incumbent may be required to work during adverse weather conditions to ensure continuous operation of all BMS and HVAC systems. |
Minimum Qualifications | One year of trade experience subsequent to the completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience such as that required for a Service & Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R). |
Preferred Qualifications |

Physical Demands | Bending, twisting, ability to transport 50 pounds, ascend ladders, access equipment located on mezzanines, catwalks, basements and crawlspaces. Ability to work off ladders, scaffolding, in confined spaces and/or where air monitoring may be required. Work in loud/noisy dusty/dirty environments. Work with or around high-pressure steam, high-voltage electrical systems and rotating equipment. |
