Position Description
The College of Applied Arts invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar in interior design.

Responsibilities:
Conduct independent research in areas such as:
  • Human-Centered Design: Exploring how interior spaces impact human well-being, behavior, and experience.
  • Virtual Environments: Investigating the intersection of design and digital technologies, including virtual reality and augmented reality.
  • Aging Studies: Focusing on creating inclusive and supportive environments for an aging population.
  • Collaborate with faculty on research initiatives, grant proposals, and scholarly publications.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research methodologies and design thinking.
  • Participate in departmental seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • The appointment involves a substantial and full-time commitment to research, scholarship, teaching, or other professional activities. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental needs.
You are expected to publish a minimum of 2 journal papers and apply for one fund.

This position is subject to the availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field completed prior to start date.
  • Substantive knowledge and background in the field of: Human centered design, mental health, Ageing studies, or Virtual environments.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Demonstrated skill in 3D modelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and disseminate research results via peer-reviewed outlets (publications, presentation, etc.);
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in conducting research in mental health studies using virtual environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully apply for funding.
  • Expertise in designing research surveys.
