As a Technical Security and IT Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring clear communications with our development teams on a wide range of security related topics.
You will be responsible for providing end user security support, troubleshooting and debugging general security issues related to operating system, security tooling and enforcing corporate standards are followed.
2+ years of Industry experience.
Security skills:
- Network Basics: Understanding how networks operate, including TCP/IP, DNS, and tools like Wireshark and Nmap.
- Windows & Linux Proficiency: Knowledge of both operating system environment to manage permissions, firewalls, and vulnerabilities.
- Security Tools: Hands-on experience with tools like Snort, Nessus, and Nikto for vulnerability detection and monitoring.
- Problem-Solving: Critical thinking skills to respond to breaches, analyze risks, and fix security gaps.
- Communication: Ability to explain technical risks clearly to non-technical teams and stakeholders.
- Continuous Learning: Staying updated on new technologies, threats, and certifications like CompTIA Security+.
Networking Skills:
- Knowledge of TCP, UDP, and Ping
- Advanced skills in iptables for access control and port forwarding
- Strong capability to diagnose access issues
Storage Skills:
- Familiarity with HDD, SSD, NVMe, LVM, RAID, and NFS
- Proficient in navigating Linux filesystems and understanding permissions
Application skills:
- Experience with Apache, PHP, and MySQL/MariaDB
- Ability to install applications from approved sources
Virtualization skills:
- Ability to connect VMs to networks using bridges
- Experience adjusting VM configurations and resources
Networking Skills:
- Experience with Netplan and NetworkManager for static and DHCP setups
- Ability to set up Open vSwitch and Linux bridges
- Experience with default gateway, subnets, routing
Storage Skills:
- Experience setting up MDADM and LVM
- Extensive experience in navigating Linux filesystems and understanding permissions
Application skills:
- Extensive experience with Apache, PHP, and MySQL/MariaDB
- Knowledge of implementing SSL certificates and user access controls
Virtualization skills:
- Experience with libvirt VMs and XML configuration
- Experience with KVM virsh
